Screen printing is one of those crafts. Hands on. Roll up your sleeves and put in the work to get the results types of arts. It seems like there is always a mistake (or two) to be made and something new to learn. After a round of golf, I find myself often walking away reflecting. I often walk away from the printing press doing the same. Thoughts go to ways to be more efficient and how to make improvements next time.
Why the name Rickerus Ink you ask?
First, I’ll give you a little hint… my name is Rick and I’m the owner. Close friends called me the Ricker when we were kids. I’ve always searched for a way to capture the nostalgia. Add my mild childhood obsession with the Nintendo game Kid Icarus in the 1980’s. Mash em’ up and you get Rickerus.
In the Greek myth, Icarus threw caution to the wind and boldly ventured a bit too close to the sun. He wasn’t afraid to fly. Warned by his father not to fly close too the ocean or too close to the sun. Taught to be curious, but at the same time… not too self-assured. He had the desire to fly higher that anyone else dared. Icarus achieved that goal by flapping his arms in a glorious moment of freedom. He just needed a more solid set of wings and a little less ego! I’m inspired to construct a business that allows for ideas to take flight and become a reality. It’s all about learning, doing and creating.
The Ink…? Well, that’s where the magic happens! Laying down ink, pulling the squeegee, and lifting the screen to reveal a new design, piques my interest every time. Set up the press properly and it’s great. If something is wrong, troubleshooting is needed. Adapting on the fly is a big part of what I’m about. This screen printing game is a delicate balance between patience and skill. Mostly patience and the reward is the skill.
No job is too small. If it’s important to you, it’s important to me. My goal is to provide you with high quality results every time. I want the people I interact with to enjoy the experience and love the product. Personal care and attention to detail is what I strive for. That’s what I would expect from a company and that’s what I’m offering.
